Fireplace

I don't think we've posted photos of our living room yet. It's definitely my favorite room in our place. The sun shines through the bay windows every morning and the windows overlook our new neighborhood street /street trees. We love the vintage fireplace surround and curved ceiling edges. We plan to paint the room but still are still deciding on colors... any ideas?

The marble on the fireplace was from the previous rehab job done about 20 years ago, we aren't super fond of the purple and want to replace it with something brighter and lighter to help the mantle 'pop'. Any suggestions?

  1. if you aren't a fan to the marble why not go glass tile (brightly colored glass tile mosaic would look great)? or check out places like Salvage One (I think there is another in the area, but can't seem to google it right to find the name) for new marble http://www.salvageone.com/elements_fireplace.php

  2. Hey Helen, thanks for the idea! I think we are leaning in the direction of glass subway tile or Victorian Glazed tile... unfortunately this project may turn out to be bigger than it looks since i think the whole mantle would need to be taken down to get the marble out and the new tile in. We'll just have to save this project for a little later, haha. But until then, Im collecting as many ideas as I can. Thanks!
